July 2025, The Black Long Covid Experience and The Blackest Side of Long Covid presents:
“What I Wish White People Knew about My Life as a Black Disabled Activist.”
No fancy fliers.
No cute language.
No egos.
No war.
No beef.
No teeth showing.
But truth-bearing.
Three people have already asked to financially sponsor or support this project to aid in compensation for guests and staffing needs.
You are NOT obligated to support in any way. This is a project that I will execute even if I receive $0.
This one will require us all to bring our guts, ears, eyes, hearts, and souls.
This isn’t chastising, finger-pointing, or oppression economics. This means no fetishized Mammification, with white people paying to endure the guilt and shame sold to them about the effects of racism and discrimination — happening apart from them — because it feels like accountability coming from a Black woman. This is played out and so boring.
If you are a white person addicted to a good dragging show put on by Black people to make you feel better (or horrible) about your whiteness, please save your donations and time. If you’re Black hoping for a ticket to clapback gymnastics — the defensive guard we play when our feelings of exclusion are paused as we demean white people in some self-aggrandizing way, I would offer that this is not the right platform for you.
This project is an educational exercise in empathy and truth. It may not make you smile or feel comfortable but it will aggravate your curiosity.
This series may trigger us all but nothing is ever solved when daggers replace words and understanding.
This isn’t a glossy flyer, fun event. It’s a real honest, diabolical, sacred, witty, and introspective panel discussion that will examine the racism and separatism that exists in healthcare and chronic illness advocacy using the Long Covid and ME/CFS advocacy model seen over the last five years.
If you’d like to support or want more information, the Project Scope is a great reference point.
All inquiries should be forwarded to info@blacklongcovidexperience.com.
This is a huge undertaking. Now is the time.
